Experienced Mathematics Tutor from Elementary to High School

I graduated in May of 2023 from Hunter College with a BA in Mathematics and am currently pursuing an MS in Data Science at Pace University. I previously worked in the Dolciani Math Center at Hunter College as a tutor, working one on one or in groups with students. There I tutored College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and more for undergraduate students.

As a private tutor, I worked with students ranging from the 1st grade to high school, tutoring basic mathematics, SAT Math, Algebra, Geometry, AP Calc AB as well as other similar subjects. I volunteered tutoring in high school as well for middle schoolers and did private tutoring for first graders, middle schoolers, and high schoolers. My tutoring method involves first assessing a student’s skills through a diagnostic test of sorts dependent on the specific subject of interest. Then, I create a personal tutoring plan tailored to each student based on time available, number of skills to learn and review, student’s learning style, and more, ensuring that all students get the most out of our tutoring sessions. Finally, I perform check-ins every few sessions to see the progress the student is making, what is and isn’t working, etc. and do a final assessment at the end to show the student how far they have come!

I’ve been tutoring for about 8 years now, and I’ve always enjoyed tutoring others as a way to give back to the community that has helped me throughout my own educational career, hoping it will encourage others to do the same. Lastly, in my free time I enjoy reading, playing on my Nintendo Switch, doing puzzles, and practicing yoga.
