Hello, I'm Lou (he/him)! I graduated with a B.A. in History from Swarthmore College and have a passion for writing and test prep. I have extensive experience tutoring writing at all levels. I also spent several years tutoring in high school in science, math, English, and history.
As a tutor, my approach is hands-on, direct, and creative. A typical session might involve discussing a paper or problem set, digging deeply into a challenge or set of questions, leaving with clear next steps, and evaluating the session (What went well about our session? What could I do differently next time?)
Outside of tutoring, I work full-time for nonprofits, where my work in remote trainings for high school students has been nationally recognized. I am also certified in conflict mediation.
