Hello! My name is Riley, and I am a rising junior at Princeton University. I have completed 6 Advanced Placement Courses (US History, Language, Psychology, Statistics, US Government, Biology). Princeton was the only Ivy League I applied for, and I was also accepted into the University of Virginia and the College of William & Mary.

I have been tutoring since high school in various subjects, but my primary focus is in English and Math. I work with middle school to high school students in developing stronger writing skills, and in growing reading comprehension. I also assist in editing and proofreading essays. For math, I primarily work with middle school students on developing pre-algebra and algebra skills.

Throughout my time as a captain for my high school speech and debate teams, I also worked with training new members on research, public speaking, and competitive argumentation. I lead both the speech and debate teams to State Championships, and achieved my own individual State Championship in Extemporaneous Speaking, and State Runner-Up in Public Forum Debate. I currently am a captain for Princeton's nationally ranked Mock Trial team, where I also train new members on legal analysis and courtroom demeanor. I have received several individual awards in this role.

My mindset when approaching tutoring is that there is never a set procedure that can be applied for every student. I strive to meet each student where they are at, no matter their previous experiences in the subject, or their skill level. Together, we can figure out how to best learn, and discover new solutions to any persisting problems. If you have any questions, or would like to schedule a session, please do reach out! I look forward to hearing from you.

College Counseling

College Counseling

I am a current student at Princeton University. I was admitted in the University of Virginia and the College of William & Mary. Besides my personal experience, I also advise current high school students on the steps to applications, and how to write essays that lead to acceptances into prestigious universities - most recently, I had an advisee accept an offer to Stanford. I firmly believe that no matter where you are from, or your previous educational experience, anything is possible. I'm here as a support system for you, so that we can work towards your dream school together.
Debate

Debate

At Princeton, I compete for the Princeton Debate Panel, an extremely competitive team across the world. When I was in high school, I competed in Public Forum and won several awards, including a State Championship, a National Speech & Debate Honor and Merit Awards.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I have personal experience with preparing for both high-pressure collegiate interviews, as well as internship/job interviews of all kinds. In order to get into Princeton, I interviewed for my acceptance. I've interviewed for internships in Brazil, in district attorneys' offices, for classes, for court jobs, and for other part-time work. I've also interviewed successfully for fellowships, and other grants.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

When I applied to college with my own personal statement, I got into Princeton University, the University of Virginia, and the College of William & Mary, among other universities. As a tutor through Wyzant, I have experience helping other students craft their own personal statements and have had great success: my most recent student received an offer to Stanford.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Mock Trial is a competitive activity that mimics real-life courtroom trials. Students rely on a mix of public speaking, debate, argumentation, and acting skills to compete against other collegiate teams across the country. Some competitors are attorneys, who make legal arguments, and some are witnesses, who portray characters to tell a story. As an attorney, and a captain of my team, I have been apart of numerous award-winning teams; most recently, bringing Princeton back to the National Tournament for the first time since 2014. I have also won numerous individual awards, including Outstanding Attorney at Boston College and Seton Hall. As a member of the Princeton Debate team, I also compete in British Parliamentary Category, which is a competitive round where students receive a topic 15 minutes prior to debating it. Before Princeton, I was a State Champion in Public Forum Debate (a classic 2v2 debate style, with cross examinations). I was also State Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking (students are given a half-hour to prepare a seven-minute speech on a randomly drawn question relating to current events). I was a captain for both the Speech Team and Debate Team, meaning I have 3 years of experience preparing students to compete at extremely high levels for different categories (both the Speech and Debate Team won State Championships).
Swimming

Swimming

I have swam my entire life, and achieved personal success in the form of a Regional Championship in the 200M Freestyle. I have about 5 years of experience teaching others how to swim as well; I was certified as a lifeguard, and I completed a course that enabled me to work with others. My past experience has been primarily with children ages 5-11, although I have experience coaching older adolescents as well.
