I'm Jamie! I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2020 with a degree in Accounting and Information Systems. I previously worked at EY as an auditor in the Government and Public Sector. During my time at EY, I took and passed all four parts of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam. Through this experience, I learned strategies and best practices to help understand the material and how to best prepare for the exams. After a few years at EY, I decided to purpose a master's in Global Entertainment and Music Business from Berklee College of Music.

During my time at Berklee, I tutored many of my fellow peers in the financial accounting course, and continue to help the current students. I know accounting can be a foreign language to many people, and most of the time frustrating. I help break down the fundamentals and apply real life scenarios to the material. I also understand that there are many different ways people learn, whether it be visual, oral, etc. I adapt my teaching style to best fit the type of learner my student is and constantly communicate with them to ensure it is effective. I believe effective note taking and repetition are the keys to success in this course and emphasize the importance to my students.

Additionally, my master's degree in music business has given me the opportunity to tutor creative individuals in accounting. This experience has given me new tools to help tutor individuals with a more creative side.

I currently work at The Orchard, a music distribution company, as a manager in Accounting and Finance so my financial accounting skills are kept fresh. I work very hands on with the various financial statements and ledgers.
