Hi! My name is Jade and I graduated from Wesleyan University in 2022. I majored in African American Studies and Education Studies (graduated with honors in both fields). These majors have helped me deepen my skills in the best approaches to obtaining knowledge and sharing it with others. I have tutored for years ranging from programs like the GO Project in NYC to local Boys and Girls Clubs. I was also an ESL tutor and a ton of my work focuses on building a student's voice and confidence especially when it comes to writing.
I have worked with students as young as 1st grade to high schoolers so I am definitely open to supporting students of all ages in areas such as English, college essay writing and test prep that requires reading and comprehension skills. My approach will always begin with supporting a student’s trust in themselves and the work they are capable of doing and from there I use mostly a listening based approach to get a sense of areas of difficulty for the student and where they would like to improve.
Additionally, I am open to working with college students as I have a strong background in sociology and psychology and can be a great reference for support in those subjects.
