I am a licensed elementary school educator with over 20 years of experience in various pedagogical settings. More specifically, I hold a permanent Common Branch (K-6) teaching license granted by the State of New York. I have a bachelors, masters and doctoral degree, all in the field of education. I possess strong pedagogy, interpersonal and communication skills. I have a strong commitment to education and am particularly interested in promoting excellence in education by providing students with the necessary skills needed to be successful.

Throughout my teaching career, I applied teaching methods consisting of differentiated instruction, expeditionary learning, kinesthetic learning, collaborative learning, technology based learning, project based learning as well as group and individual learning. In addition to teaching, I have tutored students both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis. During tutoring sessions, I prepared lessons that were grade and subject appropriate, assisted with homework, helped implement study habits and build confidence. Additionally, I provided parents/guardians with progress reports and updates.

I have been teaching for 25 years. Throughout my career, I have worked with students in public elementary school settings in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD and Brooklyn, NY. Students ranged from ages 4-11. I have taught grades Pre-K through 5 spending the bulk of my career in grades 3,4 and 5. I have also been employed with a variety of after-school programs where I worked with students to provide educational support in small study areas. I have provided students with homework assistance and given guidance to students to help solve specific problems. Finally, I am skilled at tracking students over time to identify opportunities to enhance tutoring methods and help students meet their individual goals.
