I graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and American Literature. I also have a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from NYU. I am certified to teach English and English as a New Language in New York State. I have worked as a secondary school teacher for 14 years. As a New York City ELA and ENL teacher, I have taught English to teenagers from around the world. I believe in delivering engaging lessons to motivate students to improve their academic language and vocabulary skills. I use different strategies to keep students engaged, such as image analysis, video clips, and discussions. I believe in assessing students' reading and writing skills and using the results to inform instruction. I also praise them as they master new reading and writing skills.

I have experience teaching one-on-one, small group, and whole class online sessions through Fullmind. Thus, I have virtually taught middle and high school students ELA and ENL. I used images, audio-visual support, and essential questions that led to rich discussions to bring content to life. I modeled reading strategies, such as making inferences and using context clues to decipher the definitions of vocabulary words, during my online lessons. Additionally, I helped students analyze model personal statement and argumentative essays to improve their writing skills. I gave my students specific feedback to revise and edit their essays. I also provided them with opportunities to practice editing by using online IXL exercises.
