Incredibly knowledgeable and efficient tutor. Tetsuo-sensei thoughtfully prepares the curriculum and goes out of his way to accommodate individual student's needs (well, he has done so in my case). His highly individualized approach allows me to progress faster than if following a more standardized cookie-cutter lesson plan. Because of his complete fluency in both Japanese and English, he provides thoughtful and accurate explanations of grammar and style - something that is overall extremely rare. Strongly recommend!

We are very lucky to have found Tetsuo to help our daughter in her IB Japanese studies. Firstly, he is a very good teacher who can engage students and keep the students’ interest level up. Our daughter had a lot of reluctance with other teachers previously, but she has no complaints even if the class runs in to late in the evening, because of the time zone difference. But what sets Tetsuo apart is his ability to work with us to help our daughter. It is one thing to be the tutor for one or two hours per week and go over homework or questions, it is an entirely different thing to seek out the learning and grade target goals of the student and have a concrete action plan to achieve that, and that’s what Tetsuo does. It is very important yet often overlooked by many tutors. Tetsuo is helping our daughter improve her Japanese in different areas, while at the same time working toward her target grade in IB Japanese, which is especially more complicated due to the structure of the IB program. Some of the exercises that Tetsuo does are very helpful, like the “thinking” exercise he does that is helping her to “think” in Japanese. I have never seen anything like that but I think it is one of the most fun and effective ways to mold your brain to “think in Japanese”. I would highly recommend Tetsuo, for casual or serious learner who needs a custom and fun approach to learning Japanese, or someone who just need to pass an exam.

Tetsuo has been teaching us, beginners, conversational Japanese, with many valuable and fascinating details about the culture and customs of the country. Tetsuo is a wonderful tutor for Japanese. He was a great help while I was studying for the 2023 N2 Japanese Proficiency Exam.
