I have a PhD [biochemistry], a BFA [video] and a BA [anthropology]. I began tutoring as an undergraduate. And I never stopped! I tutored throughout my academic career. I have experience teaching in a one-on-one setting and experience teaching in a classroom setting. I've tutored high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students and adults.
I've found that tailoring my approach to each individual student—assessing the student's strengths and weaknesses, identifying their learning style, and creating a customized study plan that meets their specific needs—is much more effective than just lecturing or providing information. This may involve asking the student questions, encouraging them to ask questions, or having them practice solving problems on their own.
Practice and feedback are essential components of effective GRE tutoring. This may involve assigning practice problems, reviewing the student's work, and providing constructive feedback that helps them to improve. In addition, visual aids can be helpful for students who are visual learners. These aids can help to break down complex concepts and make them easier to understand.
I try to find the right balance between providing information and engaging the student in the learning process.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of facilitating the success of my GRE students. I have a proven track record of improving students’ GRE scores by an average of 7 points on the Verbal section and 5 points on the Quantitative section. And I look forward to the privilege of working with you!
