Hi! My name is Jessica and I am a Bioinformatics PhD candidate at the University of California, San Diego. For those of you who don't know what bioinformatics is - it's like data science, but specifically for biology! I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2017 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. I am also a former Fulbright Scholar - during my time as a Fulbright Scholar, I worked as a visiting researcher at a lab in Berlin, Germany.

I am interested in tutoring various math subjects, and have specific expertise in calculus. During college, I worked as a Supplemental Instructor for my university's multivariable calculus course. However, I also enjoy tutoring middle and elementary schoolers, and have plenty of experience doing so through my volunteer experiences as a tutor for local schools during my undergraduate. However, I also have a lot of experience in statistics as my PhD research deals heavily with statistical modeling of genomic data. I have previously developed course material for different statistical concepts as part of my teaching requirements for my PhD. Furthermore, I am happy to tutor subjects in biology, with a particular focus on molecular biology. The main goal of my PhD research is to better understand gene regulation, so I am very familiar with the subject area!
