I have 30 years of experience teaching, tutoring, & mentoring students of all ages & abilities. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College & a Master's degree in Special Education from Adelphi University. I hold permanent New York State certification, a New York City Special Education license grades K–12, & have specialized training in Cognitive Rehabilitative Therapy. Throughout my career, I have taught in general & special education classrooms, in both public & private schools, provided paid & volunteer tutoring, & served as a college mentor. The most enlightening experience of my career was teaching during the summer at Manhattan Psychiatric Center on Ward's Island. Additionally, early in my career I learned the value of adapting instruction to meet the unique needs of every learner.
I tutor all elementary subjects, HS & college English, & 10th-grade Regents math. I tailor my lessons to each student's learning style, strengths, & goals. Whether a student needs help mastering foundational skills, improving grades, preparing for exams, or building self-confidence, I strive to make learning engaging, encouraging, & productive. My aim is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, & becoming independent learners. In addition to my professional experience, I have guided my six children through their educational journeys, including three who faced academic challenges, giving me a deeper appreciation for patience, flexibility, & encouragement.
My goal is to help students succeed academically while developing confidence & an appreciation for learning. I want students to leave their session feeling proud of what they’ve accomplished, regardless of expectations others may place on them. I celebrate progress at every level & believe success is measured not only by grades, but also by perseverance, growth, & self-belief. I am fluent in Yiddish & understand Hebrew, allowing me to communicate effectively with a wider range of students.
