I have been tutoring students ever since I was one myself. I started tutoring math and science as an undergrad at Harvard (graduated 2006) and continued through my PhD in neurobiology at Columbia. I've had students get into both of those schools (and many more), win academic competitions and, most importantly, come away with a deep comfort with and understanding of the math and science that underlies so much of the world around us.

I teach math of all kinds, but my favorite courses are Calculus, Statistics and ACT math because of the difference they can make in a student's future opportunities. The ACT determines where you can go to college. Calculus provides the foundation to keep pursuing math once you get there. And Statistics, ah statistics, is probably the most practical math course you can take to understand and grapple with the real world in life after college. (I swear, math really does have a purpose outside of textbooks).
For science, Chemistry and Physics are my favorite to teach. These are two of the most dreaded classes in high school. But there's no reason they need to be! They're really just two ways humans have come up with to describe the world around us. I love showing students how to grab hold of these topics and tame them into the nice, friendly ways to make sense of the world that they really are.
If you're struggling with high school or college level math and science, you are far from alone! But that's no reason to stay out in the cold. Drop me a note with info about what you're having trouble with and let's talk about how i can help.
