When I became a high school English teacher in my hometown of Yonkers I learned that I have an even greater passion for teaching. I not only thoroughly enjoy the subject matter, but interacting with students may be my favorite aspect of teaching, and my positive rapport with students has always been one of my strengths. I pride myself on my ability to relate to my students, increase confidence, and motivate them to work hard to achieve their goals and realize their potential.
During my time with Yonkers public schools, I have covered everything from basics like grammar and vocabulary to all types of literature. I also have experience with college preparatory classes, as well as NYS Regents and SAT preparation. I have seen a majority of my students' grades and test scores improve, especially those who have sought individual help.
It is my goal to challenge students without overwhelming them and to provide them with a comfortable learning environment and high yet reachable standards. I am aware that each student has different needs, so my homework assignments and assessments will vary depending on the student. I hold myself to a high standard, so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
