Hi! I’m Shadey, an experienced educator with a background in elementary education and ESL. I hold a Master’s in TESOL from Hunter College and have taught in the NYC public school system across elementary and secondary levels.

I specialize in helping K–5 students strengthen their reading and math foundations while building confidence and independence. I also have extensive experience supporting ESL and bilingual learners, and I’m able to break down concepts in ways that make sense and stick.

I use structured, research-based approaches grounded in the Science of Reading, including Orton-Gillingham-based instruction, to support students in developing strong literacy skills. I am also trained in programs such as Wilson and Fundations for early literacy and reading intervention.

My lessons are personalized, engaging, and designed to meet each student’s individual needs. I provide targeted instruction, guided practice, and brief parent updates to support continued progress.

I am a native Spanish speaker, which allows me to effectively support Spanish-speaking students and families.

I am familiar with widely used math curricula including Eureka Math, Amplify/Desmos Math, Illustrative Math, and enVision Math. This allows me to support students with their schoolwork while also reinforcing core concepts and closing learning gaps. My approach focuses on helping students understand the “why” behind math so they can apply their skills independently and with confidence.
