I began tutoring 15 years ago as a means of giving back to society. I taught Maths and Computer Science, to students with ages ranging between nine and fifteen. I am given to great pride when my students are able to understand concepts that seemed before to be so difficult and now they are able to see its simplicity. This was done through setting a good foundation and providing positive reinforcement.

I taught Technology at Paul Public Charter Middle School, in Washington DC. I also conducted afternoon classes in the aforementioned areas.

I stopped tutoring to pursue an opportunity as a Web Application Developer, for a government organization, however my heart still yearned for the satisfaction of helping students to be there best. My love for tutoring emanated from seeing the successes achieved by my son, through consistency and the following of a well-planned scheduled. When I saw the returns, I took note the techniques and I became encouraged to help other students to be successful in their studies as well.

The goal of each session is to ensure that each student is give the opportunity to thoroughly understand the foundations of each subject area and to systematically progress the developing child as learning becomes easier. Homework assignments were given to reinforced what was learnt. Test questions were also given to ensure that the foundation was well laid.

I am highly proficient in Mathematics and Technology related subject areas. Other subject areas of expertise is English, namely Study Skills, Grammar and Vocabulary.

I am generally available on evenings after 5:30 pm into the night, every day except on Fridays. Saturdays I am not available also until after 6:30pm. My base rate is $34/hour for online lessons.

I have attained my Bachelors Degree at in Computer Science at Andrews University (1995 - 1999) and my Masters Degree (2000 -2002) in Computer Science at Howard University. As an honours student and graduating with the second highest GPA from Howard University, hard-work and dedication was the key to my success. I firmly believe that working hard will allow you to achieve any goal in life.

As such, you can expect hard-work, organization and dedicating in my delivery as an educator of the children given to my care. I look forward to hearing from you and assisting you in achieving successful students.

I took basic Maths, Algebra and Trigonometry in High School, whereas I took Algebra 1, Calculus and Discrete Maths in my University. I excelled in them at school. I enjoyed Algebra and Discrete Maths, since they dealt with solving mysteries and dealing with logic. I have taught reading for about 5 years. I have focused on syllables, comprehension, main ideas, cause and effect, expression and other techniques. I enjoyed seeing three finished product of a child who not only can read but understands what was read. While teaching for those 5 years, Phonics was also taught. I focused on vowel and consonant recognition and sounds, blends, rhyming words, decoding(syllables), phonetic games and other techniques. I then became a Homeschool Educator. I have taught in a Home school progam in Washington DC for 4 years working with K-6 graders in Mathematics, Phonics and Reading. During this period, I developed lesson plans for those subjects. Students' academic progress was constantly evaluated on a daily basis. Tests were administered and recorded. It is with great joy to see them master these subjects at their schools now.

Sign Language

Sign Language

Sign Language was another way of expressing oneself. I started about 14 years ago. I used a Sign Language book to learn signs for a song to perform at a wedding. Later, I enrolled my son in a Sign Language Group which also performs occasionally. As a result of carrying my son for practice, I had to learn the signs in order to teach him at home. Ultimately, the parents of each child was asked to join the group. So now I am part of the group learning the signs for each song and also the sign language vocabulary. I use the American Sign Language and I have learnt the alphabet, numbers, colours, common words, common phrases, and the signs to popular songs.

Excel

She is very patient and an excellent teacher. We have now worked three times together and I will continue until I am an Excel Maven. She also gives homework which is very helpful and then we go over it on the next session.

She was knowledgeable and clear.

Her review gave me the confidence I needed in excel. I was able to understand her direction. She listened to exactly what I was looking for and broke it down for me.

Patient tutor and very smart

Mrs. J is patient and is helping my daughter understand her math from the very basics and helps with ways to help my daughter not only remember but to know the reason why. I like the 1:1 attention and there are no dumb or silly questions. My daughter's confidence is so much better with her Math.

First online tutoring session

My son has had tutoring before but always face to face so I wasn't sure if online tutoring would be a good fit but I was willing to try it. Ms. Jacinthah was knowledgeable, patient and had great strategies for my son. My son came away feeling confident and looking forward to the next session. Thanks, Ms. Jacinthah!

Awesome tutor

At first I was skeptical about doing online sessions with my 6yr. old. Jacinthah has changed my thought process. I am very pleased with Jacinthah, coming prepared and ready to jump in that was definitely a plus. I am confident based off of my 6yr old first lesson, that she will help her tackle the areas of weakness in Math. Looking forward to having many more sessions.

Third grade math

Jacinthah W. - is an excellent tutor. She is very patient and encouraging- praising my 8 year old when she sees his improvement. She has even taken time to explain to me some of the new math concepts since it’s been many years since I’ve been in school. My son has been getting 💯 on his math test. He has a better understanding of math & is actually ahead of what his class is currently learning. She gives a full review of the days lesson & also gives some homework. Jacinthah has also worked with me when I’ve needed to reschedule our planned time. I will definitely continue to use her throughout the summer break and as needed through his schooling.

Manilla, 56 lessons with Jacinthah

Patient and kind love her teaching

She teaches my son how to be patient with problems he can't solve and break it down to its simplest form, love her teaching and I recommend her to anyone I come across who needs help and she is affordable for low income parents like me.

Logic Functions

This lesson started with a review of part of my homework which was showing logic Functions for Acme exercise. Next, I completed an exercise using Logical functions for the Rating Column. Then we moved to an exercise where I had to decide on which of the functions (Sum/Count/Logical) were to be used.
