Hi, I'm Richard. I have been helping students as a tutor for over thirty years in subjects as different as accounting and chemistry. My philosophy of tutoring, and teaching in general, is that the student should always be in the process of learning TWO things: the subject at hand, of course, but even more importantly he or she should be learning how best to approach new and unfamiliar material. What makes tutoring an ideal environment in which to learn is that I can help you see what ways of thinking you have that can be a great help in grasping new subjects. Effective teaching and effective learning are always a COLLABORATIVE effort.

I have made a lifetime of learning. Having earned three master's degrees and working on a doctoral degree, all in different fields, I have become very aware of the importance of approaching material in a way that minimizes the anxiety of what may seem an overwhelming task. This involves learning how to strategize learning. Let me be your guide and companion in your next academic journey and you will find the trip far easier and more pleasant than you imagined!

Expert on the subject!

Richard is a wonderful tutor. He is not only an expert on the subject, but also is very funny and keeps the lesson entertaining. Great teaching style! My first tutoring session was just before my first quiz and I ended up getting a 95%! Would definitely recommend him.

Very helpful

Richard was very helpful in teaching me organic chemistry! He taught me a lot of tricks to memorize solutions! I recommend him to anyone! I feel more confident in this course

Great, Flexible Tutor

Richard is a very knowledgeable and experienced math tutor. He can use a few different teaching styles if youre having difficulty with a particular topic.

Gifted and natural physics tutor

Richard is, by far, the best tutor I've ever had. He helped me prepare for my college physics exam and in 3 sessions I learned more from him than during the 11 weeks of my whole course. He's the 5th physics tutor I had but he's now the only one I call. Very flexible with meeting times and places as well. I am struggling just trying to find the right words to describe what a gifted and natural teacher Richard is. I'll never have to search for another tutor again.

Knowledgable and effective tutor

My first session with Richard was very helpful. He understands how to present and teach detailed information in an organized and concise manner, surely not an easy task but his experience shows. My only regret is not finding him sooner! He also has a great personality and sense of humor so working with him is not dull and boring, rather fun. Thanks Richard! I look forward to continuing our lessons!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Richard is an awesome tutor! Helped me with Finite Math and made it fun! He is extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter and presented in such a way where it was much easier to grasp than the way my professor was teaching it

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I know my grandson is very impressed with Richard. I will have to ask him to give me more details. I just know he is very prompt gets into the tutoring immediately.

Great tutor

I feel confident on knowing the specific definitions for both inorganic and organic chemistry and when to apply it. He also covered material that my professor skims over and now I have a better understanding for when a molecule is optically active or active as well as the background of meso.

Samantha, 4 lessons with Richard

Thorough and clear

Working with Richard was great. He spoke softly and clearly. He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer any question I had. He was also available to meet the next afternoon. In a fast moving class it was very important to me to get started as soon as possible. I look forward to working with him through the remainder of the semester.

Knowledgeable, Funny, and Effective.

Richard helped me go over basic principals in Physics and showed me easy ways to visualize, determine, and solve problems. I am absolutely going to meet with him again, and I would highly recommend him to other students.
