I'm Hong, a junior studying electrical and computer engineering at Olin College of Engineering with a 4.0 GPA. I'm a first-generation college student from New York and I took the SAT the way most of my students will: on my own, with a library book and no one at home who could check my work. I scored a 1570 with a 800 in Math and 770 in Reading and Writing. I know exactly which parts of the test look harder than they are and which parts quietly cost students the most points.

I've been teaching since my first year of high school. I started by helping classmates with algebra and ended up running a free tutoring program that served hundreds of students across a dozen New York City public schools. I recruited and trained the tutors, wrote the lesson plans, and tutored math, reading, and SAT prep myself, mostly one on one with ninth through twelfth graders over three years. Since then I've worked as a software engineering intern at Amazon and an AI researcher at school.
I'm patient, I don't lecture, and I'm happy to work with students who have never scored well on a standardized test before. I've tutored kids who freeze on timed tests, kids who are bored and skips steps, and kids who has been told they're bad at math. All three can raise their score. I've watched it happen. I'll tell you honestly after the first session where your child stands and what it will take to get where they want to go and I'll send you a short note after every lesson so you never have to wonder what we did. Book a session and your child will leave with a clear plan, and you'll see the score move within the first few weeks.
