Hello! I recently completed my Ph.D. in Chemical Biology at Johns Hopkins University where I studied phase-separated synthetic DNA droplets. With this research, I became an expert in fluorescence microscopy and design of fluorescent assays using DNA circuits. In addition, I completed the Johns Hopkins Teaching Academy and am therefore familiar with teaching strategies both as a direct mentor and in a classroom setting.

I have 3+ years experience in teaching organic chemistry at the college level, as well as 4+ years experience personally mentoring undergraduate and graduate level researchers in advanced research techniques and topics. In addition, I have guest lectured for middle school classes, teaching the scientific method and providing a glimpse into how professional research is performed. My teaching style is through engaging the student with the material to help build their confidence with not just getting the right answer, but also figuring out how to get to the right answer. I do this by scaffolding a student's process to work through problems step-by-step, asking followup questions as needed to help guide them through problems such as arrow-pushing reaction mechanisms in organic chemistry. I am also adaptive to students' different levels of expertise and learning styles.
For more advanced research topics, I am available to help college/graduate students with science communication, particularly for presentations. My experience in presentations is evident by having been invited to present at local conferences and seminars at Johns Hopkins, as well as two international conferences: GRC Systems Chemistry and GRS RNA Nanotechonology. I am also experienced in scientific writing as evidenced by two peer-reviewed first-author publications, as well as being coauthor on 5+ other publications to journals including Nature Communications.
