Friendly core curriculum tutor for K-8, English and Spanish

Hello all prospective students and families! I am a middle school after-school Site Director with a B.S in Neuroscience from Brandeis University, passionate about helping students succeed in school. I am comfortable with all core subjects, with my strengths being in Science, Math, and English. I am a proficient Spanish speaker and have four years of experience tutoring English and Spanish speaking students.

I have worked within the Department of Youth and Community Development for over five years, and I started my career in youth development teaching an NIH funded PBS Neuroscience course, which gave middle schoolers exposure to neuroscience and psychology topics in fun, project-based classes. The majority of my tutoring experience has been with students grades 5th-8th in a classroom setting, although I have consistently made it a point to work with struggling students one-on-one at their (or their parent’s) request. My approach to tutoring is such that I generally like to speak to clients beforehand or use a portion of our first session to gauge areas of improvement, learning styles, and communication styles. From there, I will cater to the student’s needs to tackle coursework, as well as provide suggestions for individual study.

I am happy to help any student K-8 with core subjects, and most students grades 9-12 with subjects like English, Biology, and Chemistry. I have seen firsthand the importance of strengthening foundational knowledge and believe students and parents should not shy away from seeking extra help where it is needed. I am passionate, friendly, and always happy to help!
