My approach to tutoring is built on a foundation of technical precision and community-based instruction. With a professional background in Library Science, I bring a unique 'Librarian’s Precision' to the craft of sewing. For nearly a year, I have shared this expertise by teaching sewing basics at the library, where I have helped a diverse range of community members go from absolute beginners to confident makers. This experience has taught me how to break down complex manual skills into clear, logical steps that anyone can follow.

In my one-on-one sessions, I focus on helping students move beyond basic machine operation to truly understand the mechanics of fabrication. Whether we are decoding complex commercial patterns, mastering specific techniques for difficult fabrics like silver satin, or performing custom garment fittings using mock-up techniques, my goal is to provide a structured roadmap for success. I emphasize the importance of choosing the correct materials and tools—such as specific needle types for delicate projects—to ensure that every creation is built with professional-level quality.

I offer a patient and methodical learning environment where precision is celebrated and questions are encouraged. My teaching style is informed by my work in the library system, focusing on clarity, organization, and the joy of hands-on learning. By the end of our sessions, my students don't just walk away with a finished project; they walk away with a stronger technical foundation and the confidence to take on their next one-of-a-kind creation with accuracy and ease.
