I recently graduated from Yeshiva University with a 4.0 GPA as a mathematics major, all while completing a rigorous pre-med course load. While not studying for exams or completing projects for these many courses, I gained extensive experience in both teaching and tutoring.

I recently graduated from Yeshiva University with a 4.0 GPA as a mathematics major, all while completing a rigorous pre-med course load. While not studying for exams or completing projects for these many courses, I gained extensive experience in both teaching and tutoring.

In terms of teaching, I taught weekly science lessons at a local K–8 elementary school, which included both lecture based instruction and hands-on experiments. I also served as a teaching assistant for biochemistry, where I led live review sessions for the entire class. This year, I will be teaching 8th grade physics and chemistry at a local middle school.

However, most of my energy has gone into one-on-one tutoring, which I have done throughout all four years of my undergraduate career. I tutored AP Calculus at a local high school, volunteered with City Tutors to help students of all ages across a range of subjects, and served as a peer tutor at Yeshiva University for Calculus I, Calculus II, Multivariable Calculus, and Statistics. In addition, I’ve provided private MCAT strategy sessions to multiple students. I’ve seen great results, whether helping a student earn a 5 on the AP exam or excel in college-level statistics exams. In one-on-one sessions, I see myself as a guide: encouraging students to work through problems independently while offering support when they need help with strategy, clarification, or direction.

My test scores also reflect my ability to tutor effectively. In high school, I earned a 1550 on the SAT, and in college, I scored a 525 on the MCAT (I’m currently applying to medical school). For both of these exams, I was entirely self-taught, which has given me a deep understanding of how to approach standardized tests strategically and how to help others do the same. I believe the best way to master any subject is by working through practice problems and examples, so I strongly emphasize using a wide range of resources and question banks when preparing for these exams.
