My name is Brian. I graduated from Mount Sinai Graduate School with an MS in Clinical Research. While studying I had to learn complex statistical concepts and adopted the general philosophy behind probability/evidence-based mathematics in biological research. I had a TA who was able to compartmentalize and simplify these complex topics into easily digestible parts. He made learning about Biostatistics not only efficient but fun, instead of frustrating. I felt empowered, and inspired to share that same feeling of hope I was granted. I became a TA in the same course; preparing notes, leading lab lectures and helping students through the same challenges that I overcame. I would often spend additional time with struggling students, even if the time went beyond office hours. It brought me great joy when students would leave with a greater understanding of the material, challenging themselves beyond what they would have otherwise. Students emailed me thanking me for giving them resources to do well in the course and their future studies! I continued to tutor both Mount Sinai Students and Doctors Freelance, while I worked on my research project!
I have enjoyed tutoring graduate-level biostatistics (and Linear Models ) for 4 years. I teach one-on-one and hands-on, working through problems with students, as well as helping to explain any conceptual questions and the philosophy/ logic behind many of the applied concepts. This gives meaning to applied formulas and numbers that go beyond simply assisting with math calculations. I also taught SAS, helping students transcribe biostatistical calculations into SAS code. I also teach…
BMEN 250: Biostatistics and Data Visualization.
Bio 5200: Principles of Biostatistics (Suny Downstate Health Sciences)
I offer free consultations so that students can see if my expertise matches their needs. I have flexible hours and look at coursework before a meeting in order to offer a concise tutoring session. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!
