I'm Fadilatou (fuh-dee-luh-too)! I also go by Fadi. I am a current senior at Brown University on track to receive my BA in Health and Human Biology. Throughout my college experience, I've taken a variety of courses, ranging from Biochem and Physio to Public Health and Sociology. Most of my academic experiences have been STEM-based, as I've fulfilled my pre-med requirements and have a great interest in biology! The most learning I've ever done has been in classes with professors who are fully engaged, provide a variety of resources to supplement our learning and make themselves available for student inquiries. It was difficult for me to ask for help at first because I wrongly perceived it as a sign of inadequacy. However, the turning point in my grades, learning and ability to connect with my teachers came from being willing to ask for help and lean into my sense of curiosity to ask questions about related topics! In my experiences as a tutor, I do my best to create an environment of openness, curiosity, and compassion that I believe translates into increased transparency from students about their needs and fosters an appreciation for learning.

My first experience tutoring was in high school, where I tutored my peers in Spanish and Algebra 1. Since then, I've taken joy in being able to effectively support my peers in STEM courses, contributing to our collective success (a mutual learning experience!). I've also tutored mostly elementary students through an online platform in reading and math. My tutoring methods involve asking students about their individual needs, providing supplemental materials to reinforce understanding, keeping track of progress through practice questions, and being receptive to feedback about what I can start/stop doing to support their learning.
