Hello, my name is Annira! I hold a high school diploma and graduated with honors. Currently, I am obtaining a bachelor's degree in Animal Science at Cornell University in 2027. Although I do not hold any formal teaching credentials, I have spent my educational journey working in internships and volunteer programs that aid my career goals. I participated in a research internship at Baruch College. I worked in a small group to present and teach about our findings of soil contamination in New York City to our principal investigator and Tufts University PARE online database. I also participated in an internshiptaught young children about basic ecology and volunteeredology, and volunteering at PetSmart to organize adoption events for families with young children and teach them about the cats' personalities, socialize the cats, and maintain cages. In college, I am in the Biology Scholars Program which allowed me to practice public speaking and scientific communication with topics about our health and internal bodily processes.
This allowed me to have a further passion for teaching and helping others understand science through my lens. I interacted eers my age and younger children across all these experiences, and I have learned to adjust my approach to teaching depending on the target audience and suited to their needs. Through this I learned that I loved to interact and engage with others. I have a passion for teaching others through activities, visual models, and presentations. These experiences fulfilled my desire to help and connect with others, so tutoring for Wyzant is the perfect outlet for me to continue providing interesting approaches to learning. In my educational experiences, I feel as though I recieved one-way conversations from professors. I learned that teaching is about going above expectations in teaching which means encouraging practice, creativity, one-on-one help, and accepting feedback from students.
