I'm a professional tutor of nine years and a recent Harvard graduate currently teaching English in rural Japan. I obtained a bachelor's degree in physics with a minor in computer science and a language citation in Chinese. In the past few years, I have worked in software development for Google, conducted research for the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, and performed data analysis for a New York City government agency. Throughout this and my Harvard degree, I continued to tutor lower school to college-aged students in mathematics, physics, Python, ACT/SAT prep, English as a foreign language, and AMC 8/10 prep for 15-20 hours per week.

Most of my tutoring experience is in one-on-one settings with middle to high school aged students, both virtually and in-person. I have extensive experience working with students whose first language is not English (particularly Chinese nationals) and who benefit from extra support for attention and anxiety disorders. Though most clients book one-on-ones, I currently tutor several pairs of students and have tutored groups of up to 20.

My approach to teaching varies from student to student, as I work with both struggling students and those hoping to surpass their school's academic offerings. For students who need extra support, I provide plans and schedules for exam preparation, custom-made practice sheets and assignments, and text support outside of class. For students looking to get ahead, I provide curricula, assignments, etc. tailored to their academic needs. I’m flexible, friendly, and love what I do. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I graduated with a B.A. in Physics with a secondary in computer science from Harvard University. This of course required advanced mathematics skills and mastery of all levels of calculus. I have 5 years of experience tutoring calculus to students aged 13 to 21. I'm confident my experience and knowledge will be helpful to you!
Computer Science

Computer Science

During my four years at Harvard, I completed multiple semesters of data and computer science courses, many of which I also tutored. Additionally, I created and taught my own Python-based high school level machine learning and data science curriculum to multiple students with great success. My professional computer science related experience includes strategy and analytics for a NYC government agency, data analysis on the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, and software development at Google. I'm capable of teaching Python, Kotlin/Java/Processing, Javascript/Typescript, HTML/CSS, SQL, and C/C++. Familiar with programming for Arduino/ESP builds, as well.
CSS

CSS

I graduated from Harvard University in 2024 with a B.A. in Physics and a minor in Computer Science. I've designed several sites over the years for personal projects, computer science courses, portfolios, etc. and have used CSS extensively. In addition, I worked for Google as a STEP Intern in 2021 on the Chrome Webstore team, where I designed and implemented several features on an internal platform (using, among many other things, CSS).
Data Science

Data Science

During my four years at Harvard, I completed multiple semesters of data and computer science courses, many of which I also tutored. Additionally, I created and taught my own Python-based high school level machine learning and data science curriculum to multiple students with great success. My professional experience includes strategy and analytics for a NYC government agency, data analysis on the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, and software development at Google. Whether your child is struggling with machine learning and data science or eager to explore these subjects in their own time, I’m here to help!
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I've taught English as a foreign language for 3 years now to children and adults between the ages of 8 and 50. The majority of my students are Chinese nationals living in China, Serbia, and America.
Physics

Physics

I have a B.A. from Harvard University in Physics (2024). I studied under Professor Melissa Franklin and conducted summer research on the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva, Switzerland. I've taken and taught several years of advanced physics and have experience tutoring up until quantum mechanics.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I'm a Harvard physics graduate and experienced math tutor of eight years. This, of course, requires mastery over a high level of mathematics including linear algebra, number theory, discrete mathematics, all levels of calculus, and thus, precalculus, algebra I/II, geometry, and linear algebra. In my many years tutoring these subjects, I've mastered several approaches to conceptualizing and developing an intuition for mathematics that works for students with a diverse array of learning styles and needs. Looking forward to working with you!
Python

Python

I began learning Python in 2021, during my freshman spring of college. In Summer 2021, I used Python in my role as a STEP Intern at Google on the Chrome Webstore Team. I continued my use and study of Python through CS classes, personal projects, and physics research until Summer 2022, when I was a research assistant on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland. There, I used Python to convert, process, and analyze massive amounts of data from the collider itself. I then began to study Python in the context of data science, performing analyses in Python on black hole data to approximate their column density. This led me to my role as an intern on the Strategy & Analytics team at NYC Small Business Services in Summer 2023, where I used Python to perform quantitative, qualitative, and geographic analyses on over 12,000 minority and women-owned business enterprises across the city. I've taught Python in the context of ML, web development, data science, and more. Happy to teach it to you!
