Hey everyone!

I am Angel (An-hel), an undergrad student in my last semester majoring in Computer Sciences and Spanish Literature at Bard College. I have been a tutor for Spanish and Computer Science at my college. I have taught students ranging from ages 12-21. Furthermore, I have volunteered in both fields as a tutor. Moreover, I worked outside school as a personal tutor for individuals, teaching the language and helping them through their academic courses. I am happy to help students interested in understanding and improving their respective fields. Previous to Bard, I was a tutor in High School, and I took AP Literature and AP Spanish tests in which I obtained a perfect score. I can help students learn the language, but I specialize in literature. Specifically, I help in constructing cohesive essays, efficiently analyzing the text, or simply going through books and understanding the social, economic, and historical context that might be present.

Some fun facts about myself: I am from the Dominican Republic. I lived there for 12 years and eventually moved to the United States. Therefore, I am a native speaker who loves and appreciates Latinx culture and its language but also studies it. I am passionate about having conversations and helping students find meaning in Latin Literature.

My favorite books are: Cien años de soledad, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and La casa de los espíritus by Isabel Allende. I also love poems by Pablo Neruda and César Vallejo. I am particularly interested in Magic Realism.

When teaching/tutoring, I prioritize understanding and finding fun in topics. My best teachers that taught me English when I arrived in the United States were kind, patient, and understanding. These are some of the values I hold dearly and I hope to implement to help satisfy students' needs.
