Hi, I'm Connor, a second year computer science student at Rochester Institute of Technology. I've been passionate about programming for over 5 years and I've built a strong foundation in Python, Java, and C. I've gotten A's in both AP Computer Science courses as well as introductory computer science courses at RIT, so I'm very familiar with the curriculums and expectations of the courses. I've had a lot of experience helping friends learn to code and helping them through assignments, which has given me a sense of how to best approach teaching and where beginners get stuck. I'm comfortable helping with AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, and introductory college programming/computer science courses, or anyone interested in learning to code with a strong foundation.
Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy, and my experience goes beyond programming. I've given private one-on-one violin lessons to elementary/middle school aged students, which taught me a great deal about making engaging lessons and adapting to students' learning needs. I make sure to create a non-judgmental learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I also make sure to relate to students and to put myself in their perspective, explaining concepts from the ground up, prioritizing understanding over memorization. I'm very easy to reach, and I respond quickly. Don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions or to schedule a lesson. I'd love to help you not only understand how to code, but to enjoy it too.
