Greetings,

I am a school counselor certified grades K-12 in NY, NJ and CT. I have my Master of Science in School Counseling from Touro College and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Delaware.

I have been a practicing guidance counselor for 7+ years now. I was in charge of the College Office for three years and am currently a guidance/college counselor at a larger high school.

I recently returned to my full time position from being on maternity leave. Through providing information, resources and with my previous experience, I hope to be able to help students and families navigate the post-secondary planning process with a little bit more ease and confidence. Services include career exploration, making a resume, creating a well-balanced college list, brainstorming for a college essay, or facilitating college/financial aid application completion to name a few!

I have helped students complete career interest inventories, helped students utilize Naviance including RoadTrip Nation, and facilitated a Career Day each year where different professionals interacted with HS students. I hosted information sessions where representatives from the Armed Forces and professionals conducted presentations. I have empowered students to go through the armed forces process and explore their post-secondary options. I have helped students draft emails to professionals as well.

College Counseling

Helped students in grades 9-11 prepare for and explore the college and post-secondary processes. Aided seniors in the college application process by helping with college and financial aid applications, create college lists, edit college essays, ask teachers for letters of recommendation. Sent college documents to colleges for a large caseload of four hundred students. Hosted events for family members including an annual college fair each year.

Special Needs

Provided mandates school counselor for students grades K-12. Helped students with self awareness, social/emotional, career and self-regulation related goals. Helped students create a goal and discussed objectives highlighting the students strengths and taking their shortcomings into account. Worked with students individually and in small groups. Documented sessions in appropriate software system and updated student Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

Study Skills

Helped students grades K-12 with study habits. Increased students skills in self awareness, social, organizational, time management, goal setting, etc. Pushed into classrooms to conduct lessons on similar topics.

Great Informative College Advisor

Dani is patient, personable, knowledgeable and informative. She is setting my high school, junior daughter and I up on the right track for the college application process. This process can be a stressful time and with her guidance I feel some of that stress can be alleviated. She’s easy to talk to and sessions are engaging. I like that if she doesn’t know the answer to a question or is unsure she is determined to find out and get back to you as soon as possible. We like working with her and feel confident in her abilities to counsel us and help with filling out applications and deadlines!
