Hi, I'm Bo! I am a Biochemistry student at Binghamton University with a strong academic foundation in STEM and experience in helping students learn across a range of subjects and age groups. As a teaching assistant for a college chemistry course, I led discussion sessions where I broke down complex concepts into manageable pieces, guided students through problem-solving with leading questions, and worked to build a comfortable environment where students felt confident asking for help. I currently enjoy applying this same approach in a role assisting with a first-year college Chinese course, where I provide in-class support, one-on-one practice sessions, and individualized feedback to help students build both confidence and fluency, while also tracking progress closely to make sure no one falls behind.
My teaching style is adaptive by nature, shaped by experience working with students at very different stages of development. Through a mentoring program, I helped middle school students prep for their transition to high school, tailoring my approach to each student's needs so they felt comfortable asking questions and working through challenges. Earlier experience assisting in a preschool setting taught me patience and how to communicate clearly with younger learners. Across all of these roles, I've learned to meet students where they are, whether that means slowing down to reinforce a foundational concept or pushing a stronger student toward more independent problem-solving.
I truly enjoy the process of tutoring and mentoring: listening first, adjusting my methods to fit how each student learns best, and creating a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. Whether the goal is mastering a specific STEM subject, building study skills, or simply gaining confidence in a challenging class, I'm happy to work with students of any age or level and tailor sessions around what will actually help them succeed. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a first session!
