I hold a B.S. in Earth Science Adolescent Education and have certification in Earth Science Adolescent Education. My background is in middle school and secondary science instruction, with experience teaching Earth science, life science, physical science, and general science skills. In the classroom, I have worked with students at the middle school level, helping them build confidence with science content, reading scientific information, explaining their thinking, and preparing for class assignments, projects, and assessments.
My tutoring approach is practical, patient, and focused on helping students understand the “why” behind what they are learning. I try to break difficult topics into clear steps, use visuals and real-world examples, and ask guiding questions so students can make sense of the material rather than simply memorize answers. I have experience creating scaffolded notes, review sheets, labs, projects, and classroom activities that support different learning needs, so I am comfortable adjusting my approach depending on the student.
I believe tutoring should help students feel more capable, not more overwhelmed. When I work with a student, I first try to identify where the confusion begins, then build from there using clear explanations, practice problems, and feedback. My goal is to help students strengthen both their content knowledge and their confidence, whether they need support catching up, reviewing for a test, improving study habits, or working through a challenging science assignment.
