Hello! My name is Lauren and I am currently a teacher in the New York City Department of Education. I am certified in both general and special education and am currently serve as an Instructional Coach for both elementary and middle school teachers. This opportunity gives me a chance to work with a variety of students and act as a model classroom teacher. My teaching certification spans to both general and special education. I have taught all of the core subjects (Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science). I am familiar with a variety of levels of learners and am able to modify and differentiate activities to give all students access and understanding of curriculum materials. I love teaching, I have been in the classroom for 5 years now, and always look forward to working with new students!

I possess a sensitivity to a variety of learners (visual, auditory, and tactile learners). I am familiar with the GoMath, Envisions, and Equals Math curriculums. I am also comfortable with the use of math manipulative to better understand instruction.

Providing access to reading for a variety of level of learners has been something that I have excelled in in the classroom. I have had training in several phonics curriculums (Fundations and SMiLE) and have incorporated many of these strategies into my reading instruction.

I am currently a Special Education within the New York City's Department of Education - District 75. I am currently working as an Instructional Coach, but have spent years in the classroom as a teacher in an 8:1:1 setting with students in Grades 3 thru 5. The majority of the students in my classroom are autistic so I have learned to incorporate strategies to help them better access learning thru differentiation and modification.
