Physics and Math tutoring veteran but New to Wyzant - Caltech grad

I have a Caltech bachelor's degree in Physics, and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins. I was a full time teacher for 5 years as professor at a community college where I taught both general physics and calculus-based physics, as well as astronomy, environmental science and math. Over the past fifteen years I have tutored many high school students in physics, AP physics, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus and calculus, and Test Prep. I have also tutored numerous students in college math and physics.

I tutor one-on-one with students to help them learn to solve problems in math and physics. Our sessions start with an example homework exercise, and I will ask questions to reveal the student’s thought process and see where they are stuck. We discuss what concept is being illustrated in the problem and what strategies and tools can be used. I am patient to help the student get an understanding that is clear to them. This individualized approach is very effective in building confidence.
