I am a certified English Language Arts teacher (grades 7–12) with two master’s degrees from CUNY Brooklyn College—one in Education and an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry). I bring a strong blend of pedagogical training and real-world writing experience to my tutoring, helping students build both technical skill and confidence.
I have taught middle and high school ELA in New York State, as well as served as an adjunct lecturer within the CUNY system. Across these roles, I’ve worked with diverse learners and supported students in mastering reading, writing, and critical thinking. I also have extensive tutoring experience, including one-on-one support and small group instruction, and have helped younger students develop foundational literacy skills.
I specialize in reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, thesis development, persuasive writing, grammar, sentence mechanics, and research projects. I also offer support in creative writing, including poetry and fiction. My goal is to help students not only succeed academically but also develop a stronger relationship with language.
My teaching approach centers on meeting students where they are and building from their strengths. I incorporate student interests to increase engagement, emphasize clear expectations, and help students break down assignments into manageable steps. I also focus on time management, study habits, and vocabulary development to support long-term success.
I hold a degree from the College of Charleston and am proficient in Spanish, which allows me to better support bilingual learners. I am committed to helping students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers while achieving their academic goals.
