My name is Nirupika, I am a PhD student at UC Berkeley where I study social psychology and teach classes. Previously, I graduated from New York University, where I studied Psychology and Business Studies. I have always had a sheer appreciation for learning and education, and have held many jobs throughout my high school and college years that allowed me to help others in many different courses, including Math, Science, English Literature, Foreign Languages (Latin), SAT and SHSAT Prep (with Kaplan Test Prep), and currently, advanced statistical programs.

I believe in individualized, one-on-one approaches to tutoring as everybody learns differently; what might work for one student may not work for another. As such, I begin tutoring sessions by gathering information about each student, finding out the extent of knowledge the student already has and is skilled in, and where there can be room for growth of learning. I will also ask each student what they would like to gain from their tutoring sessions with me -- what is most important for you? I aim to make each tutoring session an enjoyable learning experience, because I understand that confronting difficult course material may already be stressful to begin with. Instead of piling on to that stress, I work with each student in a way that ameliorates test/class anxiety and helps the student gain further understanding of the material.

I genuinely love to learn and help others, and I have always been drawn to positions where I can do both simultaneously. I would like to help my students as much as I can, as I understand myself how relieving it can be to finally understand a topic or concept that I previously struggled to understand. I'm also happy to discuss test-taking and studying strategies, such as what has worked for me, as well as techniques to manage anxiety surrounding coursework and exams.

Nirupika is extremely thorough, attentive, and informed.

Nirupika is tutoring me in my graduate level research methods course . She has been extremely helpful with all of the material that we've discussed. She is extremely knowledgable in statistics/ research methods and it has been a wonderful experience working with her. After working with Nirupika on a research methods assignment I received an 100% and more importantly a deeper understanding of the subject.
