Hi, I have been tutoring high school students for 29 years. I have taught science in a private school in Connecticut. My education includes premedical studies at Wellesley and Harvard and medical studies at University of Connecticut.
My focus is to connect with the student and tailor the lesson to the student's needs. My strength lies in explaining concepts so that the student can understand. I use a lot of visuals in my online classes.

Sona is really helping my son do well in AP Biology. He came into this class as a high school freshman with little background in Biology or other sciences at the high school level. She comes to the lesson extremely well prepared and has given my son supplemental practice questions and problems to test and expand his knowledge and to see where his gaps in understanding are. It has been very helpful so far.

Ms. Sona helped our daughter to prepare for the AP exam. Just a few lessons with her before the exam, she felt confident to take the AP exam. Now, my son is taking the SAT subject test, per my daughter's recommendation, we signed up the lessons with Ms. Sona to help my son to review and study new materials which weren't covered during his AP class due to the COVID and the delay of the test date. He learned a lot from Ms. Sona and found the review lessons were helpful. There are a few more lessons to go before the exam. Patient and diligent tutor
Sona has been a great tutor for our 11th grader - preparing her for the SAT II Chemistry test. For starters, her expert command of the subject enables her to quickly find the weaknesses in understanding of her students ... from there, she maps out a strategy to drill down and focus on improving the weak areas. Sona is also very responsive to logistical changes and has been quite flexible for us over the past several months.

Sona is helping me prepare for the chemistry SAT and is also going over topics my school didn't cover so I have a better foundation if I decide to take AP chemistry in the future. She gives lots of visuals and I'm always comfortable asking any questions in which she clarifies everything and makes sure I understand every point. Excellent tutor for SAT subject/AP Biology
My son had several sessions with Mrs Sona preparing for SAT Biology subject test. Mrs Sona tested him on every chapter to find his weak spots. Long Search for a Bio Tutor
It took me a long time to find a good Bio tutor for my son, who is a high school senior taking AP Bio. Biology is a subject that you have to be absolutely knowledgeable about, and you have to be able to communicate it! Sona is able to gauge my son's understanding, build on existing knowledge, and introduce new concepts in a way that's digestible. She is always prepared with problem sets to practice with my son until he fully gets the material. She is also familiar with the AP curriculum and its updates, which is critical in order to prepare a student for this specific exam. I love Sona's no-mess-around style and I'm so happy that my son is in good hands and is ready for the AP exam!
