I am an Orton Gillingham (OG) Reading Tutor and have attended the OG graduate programs at St. John's University School of Education program for students with learning disabilities in Queens. Also I have attended the Associate program for OG in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Orton Gillingham is a multisensory language program for mastery in reading, spelling and handwriting. I am an Orton Gillingham (OG) Reading Tutor and have attended the OG graduate programs at St. John's University School of Education program for students with learning disabilities in Queens. Also I have attended the Associate program for OG in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Orton Gillingham is a multisensory language program for mastery in reading, spelling and handwriting. This includes an assessment of reading, spelling and comprehension skills. An individualized lesson plan to address the student's needs is utilized. Individual letter symbols and their corresponding sounds are used in visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic modalities. I will work with your child to discover his/her strengths and weaknesses and formulate a plan that will provide the tools to be a confident reader. I have studied the Orton Gillingham method for tutoring students with dyslexia. I have six graduate credits from St. John's University in Queens, NY in educational counseling focusing on the Orton Gillingham course. A second Orton Gillingham course was with a private Orton Fellow who is affiliated with St. John's in Staten Island, NY. During this time, I have successfully tutored two students who were not able to read, and they have been progressing well following the tutoring sessions.

Phonics

I have completed two full courses in Orton Gillingham, a phonics based method. Using this method, phonemes or all of the sounds of the English language are studied along with their corresponding graphemes using multisensory means. Mastery of all of the sounds and their letters is utilized in this approach. This program has equipped me with the tools to teach reading on the fundamental levels to students while eliminating the gaps that they may have in learning.

I am an Orton Gillingham trained grad student. Orton Gillingham is a course that focuses on reading and writing difficulties. Utilizing this method, I have successfully taught reading to students who could not read. I patiently teach them the sounds and letters of the English language utilizing multisensory modalities and special education techniques.

Very patient tutor

Regina is amazing with my son who has dyslexia. She is very patient with him and he has made so much progress within this last year of tutoring. He went up 5 reading levels in this one year and in the past he would only go up one or two the most within a year.

Great, knowledgeable teacher!

Regina is a very kind and patient tutor. She uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to teach my six-year-old son the basics of reading since he really struggled in kindergarten (we strongly suspect he is dyslexic). Regina is exactly who we were looking for. We have only had 3 sessions so far, but I could already tell she knows exactly what she is doing, she is well prepared and my son responds very well to her methods of teaching.
