I’m Steven N., Ph.D., a chemical engineer, researcher, and educator with 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience across general chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemical engineering–level coursework.
I hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida and have taught or assisted in more than 11 university courses, earning the Ray W. Fahien Graduate Teaching Award for excellence in instruction. Ohio State University is where is obtained a degree in Chemical and Biomolecular engineering with a minor in physics.
Philosophies:
Clarity first, confidence always. I start by showing students the answers and problem-solving patterns they need to recognize quickly, then work backward to unpack the chemistry underneath—so nothing feels abstract, intimidating, or disconnected from success on exams.
Understanding over memorization. Using real-world analogies and intuitive examples, I help students see why reactions behave the way they do—turning mechanisms, trends, and rules into ideas that actually click and stick.
Efficient, encouraging, and genuinely enjoyable. My goal is not just higher grades, but helping students feel capable and curious—building mastery step by step while making chemistry feel logical, approachable, and even fun.
