Hi there, and thanks for checking out my profile. I am an 18 years experienced Registered Nurse with an MSN (Master's in Nursing) and a BS in Animal Science. I also hold a certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader. I have been providing prviate one-on-one tutoring services for nursing students and graduate nurses preparing for their NCLEX-RN since 2012. Currently, I work as an associate professor at a local nursing college, where I am the lead instructor for Pediatrics, Community Nursing, and Lifespan Development. I am also a student support specialist. Nursing practice-wise, mothers, babies, and kids are my passion, and I love to teach. While obtaining my undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University, I was a paid tutor by the university for student-athletes in chemistry, English, and Spanish. I also assisted several special needs students, including vision-impaired and deaf/hard-of-hearing students. During my time in school, my GPA for my undergraduate was 3.55, magna cum laude, and during my graduate work, my GPA was 3.75. I earned honors and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. I pride myself on taking seemingly complicated concepts and breaking them down into bite-sized pieces of information. I can help nursing students separate real-world nursing from textbook nursing to help them ace the NCLEX. I passed NCLEX for the first time, and with hard work and my assistance, I can help you do the same. Contact me today to help you achieve your goals in your nursing education to get where you need to be faster! I look forward to hearing from you.

ADHD

ADHD

During my undergraduate degree work, I acted as a tutor for students with disabilities and special needs at my school. Techniques to help ADD/ADHD students often include breaking the material down to be as simplistic as possible, frequent breaks to allow for recharge, atypical study session environments (some prefer quiet while some feel that a noisy loud background noise helps them learn), recording and playback of study notes verbally into a tape recorder, and creating attention grabbing demonstrations to bring the main point of the lesson home. I focus on the importance of organization, time management, and written daily planners as well because I, too, have ADD and have used these techniques myself in order to strengthen my weaknesses.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Having a son with high functioning autism is extremely challenging, and I have worked one on one with my son (and his autism) over time to move him from a small special education only classroom to the point that he is now completely integrated in a classroom of his peers. I understand that lessons need to be presented in the method that the student learns BEST, and I also understand the vast importance of the routine. I don't let the tantrums, tics, and stims bother me, and I understand that it's important to use unconventional methods to teach and reinforce over and over and over with these students. I am a pediatric RN as well, so I love children, and I am very comfortable working with autistic children.
NCLEX

NCLEX

In 2008 I passed my very own NCLEX the very first time in only 77 questions. I had taken a two week long intensive prep course for the test, and I still have the notes. I have a master's degree in nursing myself, and I've been a RN since 2008. I have worked in not only pediatric nursing, but I've also worked in the adult setting. My tutoring approach is to take complex concepts and break them down into small baby steps to gradually build concepts into a greater understanding. During my undergraduate, I was also a paid tutor by North Carolina State University.
Nursing

Nursing

I have a masters degree in nursing and have been a RN for almost 8 years with experience in critical care, pediatrics, mother baby nursing, and tutoring.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

During my graduate coursework, I completed a 4 hour course on Pharmacology in order to obtain my master's degree in nursing. As a RN working in a hospital setting, I had to utilize my pharmacology knowledge hundreds of times throughout the day to ensure the safety of my patients. I also provided basic pharmacology education to our patients and their families to ensure that they understood how and why to use their medications.
Special Needs

Special Needs

Not only do I have a son who is special needs (High function autism), but as an undergraduate student I was a paid tutor by my university to tutor those with disabilities, including the blind, deaf, and hard of hearing. I work with these students and adapt my teaching style to their strengths rather than concentrating on their weaknesses or disabilities.

A true professional; patient, caring and knowledgeable.

Meridith worked around my daughter's schedule and was a true professional. I have no doubt her assistance has greatly helped my daughter prepare for the Kaplan Nursing Exam. My daughter passed her Kaplan Nursing Exam thanks to Meridith's help - She begins nursing school next week! Paying for a professional like Meridith to get her over the hump was worth every dime!

Meridith is an excellent tutor. She not only brings a wide range of nursing skills and knowledge to her teaching, but also patiently guides me through tough problems. She is pretty knowledgeable about various topics in nursing. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone who needs help in nursing school.
