Bio

Hi, I'm Annaliese! I am a recent graduate of Bard College, where I majored in Written Arts with a minor in Politics (cGPA 3.95) and received honors for my senior thesis. As someone who has dedicated my academic career to studying writing, I know firsthand that it can be difficult or stressful. It is my belief that, through patience and guidance, anyone can learn to find joy and comfort in the writing process.

Each of my lessons begins with a question: “What do you want to learn today?” A typical session is 60-90 minutes; for new students, we start with a conversation about goals and create a plan to advance skills while addressing the emotional barriers students face. Depending on the student, lessons can involve free writing, structured writing exercises, guided editing, text analysis, and more. My skill lessons are best for middle school and up; I can also work with students to develop a resume, review college essays and statements of purpose, and workshop and edit specific pieces of writing.

I have been writing creatively for a decade, and my work has been published in over a dozen journals and literary magazines. In 2023, I received a commendation for the Adroit Prize for Poetry. In college, I took writing, education, and literature classes; I also captained and coached Bard's debate team. I spoke at two world championships and have won numerous debate awards, including winning the 2025 Huber Debates at the University of Vermont. Upon graduation, I received a prize for exceptional writing coursework, as well as a prize given to "the senior student who, in the judgment of the president, has contributed the most to the intellectual life of the college."

For the Fall 2026 application cycle, I was accepted to all nine graduate programs I applied to, received a perfect score (6) on the Analytical Writing section of the GRE, and was offered a Fulbright to undertake a master's program in Germany. In the fall I will begin my MPhil in Comparative Social Policy at St. Hilda's College, University of Oxford.
