Hi--I'm Bryan! I'm a seasoned standardized test tutor, and nothing makes me happier than watching LSAT and GRE students who were once intimidated by these tests slowly gain confidence and skill.

I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English from Amherst College. While in undergraduate, I started tutoring, and I quickly discovered that helping other people reach their full academic potential in a one-on-one setting is extremely productive and rewarding. I now have 8 years of experience working as a private tutor for students who are trying to improve their standardized test scores. All told, I've delivered over 3,000 hours of one-on-one lessons. I got a 99.5th percentile scores on the LSAT and GRE, and I've also helped many of my own students achieve similar success! For example: 40% of the students who worked with me on the LSAT last year got into the 170 score range, and 90% improved by at least 10 points.

My emphasis while tutoring is on developing effective test-taking habits that students can apply to virtually every problem that they will confront on exam day. During the first few weeks of lessons, I introduce a few core strategies that are designed to quickly help students improve their test pacing, their process of elimination, and their attention to detail. I then give my students homework assignments designed to solidify these habits and strategies, so that they quickly start to feel like second nature. I also tend to be a very encouraging and enthusiastic tutor; more than anything, I want students to feel more confident in their own intelligence and test taking ability after working with me. On test day, my tutees go into the exam room confident that they have mastered a set of powerful strategies that they can apply to every single problem!

GRE

GRE

Teaching has been a constant source of joy and passion in my life! I especially love preparing LSAT and GRE students for their exam day. I have 8 years of experience tutoring standardized tests (including GRE, LSAT, ACT, SAT). I scored a 175 on the LSAT, and a 339 on the GRE (170 V, 169 Q). More importantly, I'm a compassionate and enthusiastic tutor. With my help, you'll develop test-taking habits that will improve your test pacing, that will hone your attention to detail, and that will leave you feeling confident and ready for test day!
Logic

Logic

At Amherst College, I worked for three years as a tutor for Professor Alexander George's course on logic. In that course, I helped teach students all the material in Warren Goldfarb's Deductive Logic textbook. This included both 1) helping students slowly master a version of Fitch's natural deduction system and 2) ending the course by teaching students how to extend this deduction system so that they could more easily derive implications from statements with polyadic predicates. Working with Professor George, I held two weekly study sessions where students could come in to ask about any course material that they were struggling to grasp. I also offered 1 on 1 tutoring to several students who were at risk of failing the course. After working with me individually, every one of my students passed the course! While doing this job, I discovered that I really love teaching deductive logic. Nowadays, I nourish this love by 1) teaching the fundamentals of deductive logic to students who are struggling with the LSAT and 2) helping students who are struggling with a course on logic via 1-on-1 tutoring.

Easily the best tutor I've ever had.

I went from a 159 LSAT diagnostic to a 178 on the real LSAT this month, and I absolutely attribute most of this progress to Bryan. I worked with him every week for nearly four months, and it could not have been more helpful having him as a tutor. He is incredibly smart, very patient, and most importantly a very good teacher. Before working with Bryan, I tried out two other tutors -- one of whom had been helping write a famous LSAT prep course for 30 years before retiring and clearly knew the test inside out. Bryan was 10x better. Unlike the first guy, it felt like Bryan was invested in my journey -- he genuinely cared about helping me improve and clearly spent effort tailoring his teaching to my needs and thinking about what the best strategies would be for me. He was responsive to my suggestions and worked with me. When I was in New York City for a few weeks, for instance, he would travel for 45 minutes to a coffee shop near me so we could have in-person lessons. He would send a weekly schedule after every lesson telling me exactly what to do everyday -- based on my progres and what we'd discussed -- so I didn't have to think about it. Unlike the other two tutors I tried, Bryan is young. This was initially a concern of mine but this turned out to absolutely be a positive. It made him relatable and it made communication between us much easier. He was recently in the position I'm in now -- taking the LSAT and applying to schools -- so he clearly sympathized with my position. Bryan used a number of different resources to help me improve. He pulled out the most helpful lessons and exercises from different courses and prep books to put together what was essentially a personalized curriculum for me. If you're wondering if his hourly rate is worth it, it absolutely is. Don't skimp on preparation for this test (hell, a few extra points could save you thousands in scholarship money) -- lessons with Bryan are absolutely worth it. I've recommended him to all of my friends who are planning on taking the LSAT and I will continue to do so. I tried two online courses too. They're fine, but I pretty much just stopped using them once I started lessons with Bryan.

Fantastic Tutor

Bryan is incredibly knowledgeable and patient. He helps you work through any questions you have but also teaches you how to apply the skills and learn how to work through the problems on your own.

Supportive and Encouraging

I worked with Bryan over the course of 3 months and he helped develop my argumentation and analytical reasoning skills in both the Logical Reasoning and Logic Games section. He helped me build repetition by attacking the core of each argument to identify the premise(s) and conclusion. I appreciated the LSAT explanations that followed with each question and the argument drills. The techniques and strategies are transferable instilling confidence for anybody that wants to take the test.

Enthusiastic and supportive!

My first session with Bryan was fantastic! I had already been somewhat familiar with the LR question types and Bryan made clear several of the concepts that had not yet been solidified in my brain. He is such a pleasure to work with, and it feels like he really cares about my success and growth. Extremely prepared and dedicated. Thank you, Bryan!!
