I am just finishing my PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University. I have a lot of teaching experience, from lecturing in 300 student classes to one-on-one tutoring. I've taught children with reading problems in Holt Michigan, and taught English as a second language to children in Hong Kong, where I also worked as a private tutor. I have taught archaeology and anthropology classes at Columbia University in New York City and at Community College in Baltimore. In sum, I have taught a variety of subjects to different age groups and at different educational levels.

Strong test scores contributed to my acceptance to the PhD program at Columbia, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and insights with students who have ambitious goals for their future. Personally, I am a friendly family man with a young son.

I have experience tutoring High School and College-age students. Based largely on my SAT and ACT scores, I was a National Merit Semifinalist in High School, and received a scholarship to Albion College.

I am a published author, with two articles printed in scholarly journals in 2015. I am completing a PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University, an Ivy League institution. I scored in the 99th percentile for the Verbal section of the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) and received the highest possible score on the Analytic writing section. I have extensive experience working with university students.

I am located in Astoria Queens but am happy to travel to other parts of the metropolitan area. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Very helpful tutor

Reading a complicated book in Philosophy and John helps break things down for me to understand it better and be able to answer the questions and when I can’t understand it he is super patient with me and will continue to explain it in ways that I am able to understand it better.

extremely knowledgeable and an incredible writer.

John was able to, in 60 minutes, help me form the most comprehensive outline I have ever seen. although he was unfamiliar with my topic and sources, John was able to write more on the topic than I ever could have.
