I graduated as the salutatorian of my high school and with a bachelor's of science in Physics as an Honors Program student. I have been a straight-A student my entire life and a lifelong lover of learning, and know how to approach studying. Having tutored since middle school (in middle school, I tutored as part of the National Honors Society and in high school, I was an after-school tutor), I've had over a decade of experience learning what approaches work with different students. While in college and after graduating college, I have tutored students of various ages, including elementary school students, middle school students, high school students, college students, and adults preparing for the GED. The subjects I have tutored in include: elementary and middle school math (3rd grade math, 4th grade math, pre-algebra) and ELA (reading comprehension, essay writing), high school math (algebra), chemistry, and GED preparation. I have also worked as an editor for a small magazine and am passionate about proofreading, being the one my peers turn to for essay editing. A handful of peers have credited me for their entry into medical school due to my thorough editing of their medical school applications, and I find little more enjoyable than writing and helping others' writing shine.
As of now, I am studying nuclear medicine technology and have been tutoring my peers in our math and physics courses. My approach to tutoring remains the same regardless of age: it stems from a deep understanding of how frustrating it can be for students to not be able to grasp material. Thus, I guide with empathy but am firm in my approach to motivate students into believing they are capable of understanding what feels to them like a series of insurmountable challenges. Aiming to assist however I can, I often assign extra work if I deem it necessary. Let's catch up to, or potentially get ahead of, the year together.
