Computer Scientist with Math Minor and Tutoring Experience

Hello, I'm Alexandru. I am a recent graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and a Minor in Mathematics with a GPA of 3.6. Starting in high school, I was the leading student in tutoring section of the school, tutoring in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Calculus, and Web Design. This consisted of hours at lunch and staying after school providing assistance on difficult topics, while also practicing for my SAT exam, which I scored a 1320. I have also taken two subject exams, Math 1 and 2, which I scored 800 and 730.

Throughout college, I would tutor my friends in classes that we took throughout the semesters in one-on-one sessions. For 2 full years, I was a Supplemental Instruction Leader, where I would work directly alongside the Computer Science Professor to assist over 50 students during weekly lab sessions. I also planned semiweekly, unique hour-long informative instruction sessions outside of class that involved either exam or weekly material review in a classroom setting.

My personal approach is to guide students to the solution while constantly checking for understanding. I try to instill this constant "check-for-understanding" approach, as it is a way to talk yourself to a solution that has worked often in the past for plenty of my students. Naturally, I see myself as a mentor who has learned from other mentors and intends to tech the future of mentors. I would like to learn from this experience and make sure that every student leaves my sessions with the satisfaction of learning.
