Hi! I’m a certified teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam and a Master of Science in Teaching from SUNY Cortland. I currently teach 6th grade and have experience working with students across upper elementary and middle school in both classroom and small-group settings. My background in psychology helps me understand how students learn best, and I use that knowledge to tailor my instruction to each individual student.
While I am certified in elementary education, I have a strong passion for teaching math and helping students truly understand it. I focus on breaking down concepts in a clear, step-by-step way so students can build confidence and stop relying on memorization alone. At the same time, I also support students in reading and writing by helping them strengthen comprehension, organize their thinking, and express their ideas clearly. Whether I’m working on math skills or ELA, my goal is always to make learning feel manageable and achievable.
In my classroom and tutoring, I prioritize building confidence just as much as improving skills. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including students who feel frustrated or behind, and I pride myself on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I adjust my approach based on each student’s needs, using guided practice, modeling, and real-world connections to help concepts click. My goal is for students to leave sessions not only with better understanding, but with the confidence to succeed independently.
