I am a dual-certified math and special education teacher in Buffalo, NY - I currently teach high school math to students with autism and ADHD and specialize in individualized instruction. I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring online and in person.

During my twelve years of teaching, I have gained experience working in an inclusive classroom and have had great success working with both general education students and students with attention disorders, autism, and learning disabilities. I strongly believe that students have the best chance of success if the material is made accessible to them through multiple entry points and real-world connections, and I have a history of success in finding meaningful connections for a variety of students, from gifted teenagers to students with learning disabilities to adult/non-traditional college students, and everyone in between.

I've been told by multiple former students that the aspect of my tutoring that they enjoy the most is my down-to-Earth personality and quirky sense of humor during tutoring sessions. Math is a subject that many students don't particularly enjoy, so I make it a priority to make tutoring sessions lighthearted and fun while still getting work done.

I look forward to working with you!

ADHD

ADHD

I am a high school special education teacher specializing in teaching math to students with autism, ADHD, and other learning differences that necessitate a slower pace and smaller class size. I currently teach in a program for students with autism, helping them to access grade-level material. I can help break down procedures and processes, develop unique note-taking strategies that can help students with learning differences work through word problems and complex situations, and can assist with general organization and time management skills. As a person who is diagnosed with ADHD myself, I have had to develop these processes for my own life, and I have managed to be very successful in staying organized and productive.

I provide a supportive, adaptive, low-pressure environment for students with autism, meeting them where they are and allowing them to express themselves while also helping to guide them toward the material at hand. Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Justin did a great job putting my son at ease and giving him a variety of suggestions and advice to set himself up for success with his classes. He helped him take some nebulous trigonometry concepts and break them down into easily understandable smaller concepts, tying them back to concepts learned in algebra and geometry.

Knowledgeable and pleasant Tutor

Justin’s experience with my son was great. He was very patient and pleasant with my high schooler. Given his experience with teaching neurodiverse students, he was a perfect choice to help my son. Thanks Justin. Will be booking more lessons in the near future!
