Recently, I graduated with a 3.9 GPA from Hofstra University with a Master's of Science in Secondary English Education. I love reading and writing, and I want to inspire the same passion that I have for learning within my students. I think that it is important for educators to push their students toward reaching an advanced understanding of academic subjects. As an English teacher, I help them reach a masterly level of literary analysis and writing. However, I do not want to simply have my students regurgitate facts about the plot of the novel. I want them to analyze and evaluate the written word while developing their own interpretations of the novels read during tutoring sessions. To achieve this goal, I use student-driven discussions and guided practice as well as my warm and friendly demeanor to produce a forum in which students can comfortably share their ideas. Overall, I believe that it is my responsibility to improve student achievement with quality instruction that will prepare them for their future endeavors.
