Hello, I'm Julia! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in nanoscale science and a minor and biology in spring 2025. I am also a member of the collegiate honor societies Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. Throughout my undergraduate degree, I gained a lot of hands-on research experience in various laboratory settings. I believe that understanding the applications of a subject help to create a better understanding of the subject matter. Therefore, I like to introduce students to the real-world applications of what they're learning to help them to better understand the fundamental concepts and how those concepts work in practice.
I have experience tutoring in various disciplines of math and science. In high school, I tutored students in algebra 1 and 2 virtually and found that working through practice problems tended to be a very effective learning method. In college, I tutored underclassmen in calculus, biology, and chemistry, both one-on-one and in groups of 3-4 students. Here, I found using learning tools such as analogies, diagrams, and explanatory videos to be especially helpful. I also assisted students with making their own study guides, which I find to be both a useful reference tool but and a helpful method for reviewing more complex concepts.
I am flexible in adapting my teaching style to meet each student’s unique needs and welcome any helpful learning materials provided by students or parents. I respond within 6 hours of the initial inquiry and offer a free consultation session to determine if I am the right fit as your tutor.
