Hi, I'm Moxie! I'm a 4th-year computer science PhD student, working in the broad field of Machine Learning, more particularly in information theory, computational geometry, and networks. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Houston, where I graduated with high honors a BS in Computer Science and minors in Data in Society and Mathematics. and my M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
I have multiple years of TA experience, particularly for freshman-level computer science courses, courses on reinforcement learning and automaton safety, and, currently, a course on the mathematics behind machine learning. Informally, I have a long history of tutoring my peers, and have particular experience with tutoring for programming data structures, automata, state machines, grammars and languages, and prolog.
I have ample experience tutoring with programming, in particular, and focus on helping students understand how to solve problems by understanding what tools students have learned and how to recognize which tools to apply in each situation. I have primarily tutored undergraduate students, though other graduate students have occasionally sought out my help.
