Hi I’m Marcello! I graduated magna cum laude with a B.S in Biochemistry and minor in Psychology. On my journey to becoming a physician I obviously had to take to the MCAT. I spent months studying content and mastering techniques that prepared me for the real deal. I ended up scoring a 521 (BB-130, CP-130, CARS-130, PS-131) which is in the 98th percentile, a score of which I am very proud.
When it comes to tutoring and teaching, I have plenty experience from my time in undergrad. I spent four semesters as a TA for lab sections in Nursing Chemistry, Biochemistry I and Biochemistry II. In this role I monitored the lab procedure along with the professor as well as aided students with questions on the procedure and post lab calculations. I also spent four semesters as a peer tutor at my college's academic success center. I tutored in the courses Physics, Calculus, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, General Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. When it comes to my instructional style, I'd describe it as student focused. Meaning I try to identify strengths already present in students' learning strategies while also identifying less optimal study strategies. I have students talk through problems which I have found to be an effective strategy for problem solving especially for a test like the MCAT.
