My tutoring approach is tailored to each student’s learning style with the goal of building confidence and the love of learning into the student’s academic life. For those students who prefer a visual learning style, I break down the assignment or concept into visual steps using diagrams and images. For the student who prefers an aural learning style, I offer concepts using music and sound. For those who enjoy a more physical learning environment I use a kinesthetic approach with games that offer a sense of touch. With each step, my goal is to give them the tools and desire to produce results on their own!

As a parent of two WCSD graduates, I acknowledge different learning styles and realize that are many ways to approach an assignment or a new concept and as a tutor, I need to find the method that works for your student.

Over the last 10 years, I have seen any number of the students I have tutored grow from a (sometimes) struggling student, to a proud high school graduate walking across the stage to receive their honors diploma!

I am qualified to tutor math through Algebra 1, English, French and Spanish. Through attending school in Switzerland, I am fluent in French. I have worked with any number of ELL students, mostly Spanish-speaking, but other languages as well. I have found often role-playing and games help student enjoy learning another language. I relate the learning to everyday situations to provide cues that allow for easier recall.

I have helped prepare middle school students for high school algebra, high school students for algebra 1&2 and adult students in their first year of college. I try to make learning fun and relevant and work to offer a variety of ways to introduce a topic. Math can be fun!

I have been tutoring elementary students for over 10 years. I provide a variety of tutoring techniques to make learning fun and relevant. Some students respond best to visual cues and other tactile signals. I always try to teach to the learning style of the student.

I grew up speaking French and have tutored for many years. I have been fortunate to tutor elementary through adult students. Elementary school students are often in the early stages being exposed to language. My adult students are studying to take the exam to become high-school French teachers. In all tutoring sessions, I enjoy making learning fun and practical by introducing concepts using visual, tactile and aural techniques!

I love the Spanish language. I studied Spanish in college and have traveled frequently to Spanish-speaking countries. In my lessons I embrace the culture as well as the need for facility with conversation. We practice basic conversation and fundamental grammar while working with sentence structure and verb tenses.

I have been tutoring for over ten years. I enjoy working with students who are struggling with putting words on paper. We work on organizing thoughts, outlining, paper formatting as well as structure and content. I try to make writing fun and memorable by using visual and audio aids. I'd love to help as writing is such a powerful communication tool.
